Orders From the Closed Stacks Partially Available Again
Orders from floors 1 and 2 of our closed stacks are once again available as of immediately. The printed media stored there can be ordered and borrowed as usual via KatalogPlus. Unfortunately, collections on the remaining floors remain inaccessible due to construction work. In the meantime, inaccessible books urgently needed from our collection can be ordered via interlibrary loan; please contact our circulation team for assistance. Any fees incurred for these interlibrary loan orders will be covered by the University Library. The circulation desk is happy to answer any questions about interlibrary loan via |

“From Prompt to Paper” – TU9 Online Lecture Series
AI tools are now part of everyday university life, but many questions are still open. What is allowed when writing academic papers? How can you write clear prompts to get useful results? And how can AI support exam preparation in a meaningful way? The german online lecture series organised by the TU9 libraries in the summer semester 2026 looks at these topics and more. It offers practical insights into how AI can be used in academic work. The sessions are mainly aimed at students from TU9 universities but are open to everyone. Participation is free. Please note that the lectures will be held in german. The lectures take place on Zoom every Tuesday from 21 April to 23 June 2026, from 3pm to 4 pm. More information about the programme and registration is available here: https://eveeno.com/prompt-zu-paper. |

RWTH Aachen’s E2C Energy Efficiency Challenge
As part of the Energy Efficiency Challenge, the University Library has been working together with four other building complexes to reduce energy consumption. Earlier this year, the old heating valves in the office areas were replaced with new radio-controlled valves. These can now be adjusted through a thermostat app, making it easier to control room temperatures when needed. Desk thermometers were also provided to help monitor the temperature in individual offices. While heating may not be on everyone’s mind during the current sunny weather, the colder months will be here before we know it. Saving energy is not only about technical upgrades. Small everyday actions can also make a difference. For example, the water heaters in the coffee kitchens are now connected to power strips, so they can be switched off easily in the evening and before weekends. Another simple step is turning off the lights when leaving a room. Reminder stickers can be found throughout the Library with messages such as “Press me when you leave” and “The last one turns off the lights.” They encourage all of us to use energy more carefully and help the Library reach its energy-saving goals. |

A break for exercise in the middle of the study day – Pausenexpress for students
Studying can be stressful. Long hours of reading, preparing for exams, and working on assignments can be tiring. That’s why short breaks are important. The Pausenexpress gives RWTH students the chance to take a 15-minute break, move a little, and recharge. The sessions include simple exercises for mobility, strength, and relaxation and are an easy way to add some movement to your study day. The Pausenexpress takes place on Wednesdays at 5pm on the 3rd floor of the Main Library and is open to all RWTH students. Just stop by and join in! |

Visit by the GEW Düren
At the end of May, we welcomed a group of senior members from the Education and Science Union (GEW), Düren, and gave them a behind-the-scenes tour. For some of the guests, the visit was a special homecoming: they had once studied at RWTH themselves and were impressed by how the library has evolved since then. We are happy to offer tours for groups of five or more. If you are interested, please contact us at ik@ub.rwth-aachen.de. |
