Your Monthly German Mini-Lesson
German Word of the Month – “Keine Sorge”
Each month we pick a common German word, explain it in English, and give you ready‑to‑use examples. Boost your vocabulary, practice your language skills, and sprinkle a little German into everyday life!
Keine Sorge
Pronunciation: [ˈka͡ɪ̯nə ˈzɔʁɡə]
Definition (English): A friendly, informal reassurance meaning “no worries”, “don’t worry”, or “it’s all right”. Used to calm someone, to say a mistake is harmless, or to politely accept a thank‑you.
Sample dialogue
A: “I’m sorry I was late.”-„Entschuldigung, dass ich zu spät kam.“ B: “No problem, keine Sorge!” - „Kein Problem, keine Sorge!“
Usage tips
- Reassuring: calm, steady tone → “No worries, it’s fine.”
- Accepting thanks: warm tone, slight smile → “You’re welcome, no problem.”
- Down‑playing a mistake: relaxed voice, shoulders down → “Don’t worry about it.”
-
In formal situations prefer “Kein Grund zur Sorge” or “Keine Bedenken” – Use these in emails or official talks.
